When you go to Malaysia, you could do like 1 million customers do every day, go to a 7-Eleven, the #1 convenience store in this amazing country!
They are quite all around and it makes them the absolute perfect pit stop in this tropical weather. Whether you just need to escape the heat, grab a quick snack, or get a drink, they have you covered.
Just keep in mind that almost everything on the shelves is Halal
Let’s Discover it 🪄

Convenience Store or Mini Market?
Having visited several 7-Elevens around Asia, the first thing we try to figure out is if this 7-Eleven stays true to its convenience store roots, like in America, or is it more a mini market like in Japan…
With small-format shops (around 140–185 m²) and a focus on quick snacks, drinks, basic groceries, and everyday health & beauty items, it is clearly the original concept!

While the chain has introduced a few larger stores under the 7CAFé concept to stand out a bit—just like in numerous other countries, such as Taiwan

What about 7-Eleven Landmarks?
Are you like us? Once you enter an overseas store, do you check if they have the 7-Eleven landmarks: the Slurpee, the Big Gulp, and the hot dog?
Great news, they have the slurpees—maybe not as impressive as in Australia, but they have them!
🪄 Trivia
In which main Asian country or countries do they not sell the Slurpee at all? Please share in the comments ⬇️

They are also selling hot dogs 🌭—just keep in mind that they are Halal (meaning no pork)

Instant Noodles Paradise
If there’s one thing they takes seriously, it’s instant noodles. From fiery Korean Buldak ramen to local favorites like Maggi, the shelves are stacked with a solid variety of packet noodles

That you can cook and enjoy in store

Order, Pay, Enjoy: The Hot Food Station
One of the coolest features is their hot food station, running on a simple & smart system, like in China:
1. Pick the order card
2. Pay at the counter
3. Enjoy

Love at First Bite
If you are looking for food to go, there are loads of fridges filled with onigiri, sandwiches, salads, ready-to-eat meals, and even cut fruits and veggies – it is really love at first bite!

Snack Wonderland
Whether you crave something sweet, crunchy, or chewy, 7-Eleven Malaysia has you covered. The snack section is packed with international favorites like Oreo, KitKat, and Haribo, alongside regional treasures like Nabati
The savory side of the aisle is just as tempting, packed with chips in every imaginable form—from classic bags to convenient tubes
A special shout-out goes to the local brand Mister Potato, proudly featured

Another fun twist in the snack wonderland is the “New & Only” selection

A Healthy Crunch on the Go
Among the sea of nuts, you will find the healthy ones with 7-11 own range of nuts, dried fruits, and crunchy bites

Cool Relief in the Heat
Given Malaysia’s tropical climate, it’s no surprise that ice cream is a hot-seller. The store features several well-stocked freezers filled with refreshing treats from popular brands like Wall’s (Magnum) and Haagen-Dazs

Chilled Drinks Galore
The heat also favors a Broad selection of chilled beverages, neatly organized across multiple fridges. You’ll find dedicated sections for colas, iced teas and coffees, and various milk drinks.
They also carry beer, sales only allowed between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m
Basic Groceries
For milk lovers and coffee drinkers, there is a nice selection from Dutch Lady, Outside, and more for milk, alongside 7-Eleven’s private label and even Starbucks in coffees

Boots x 7-Eleven: A Beauty Boost
Boots’ exclusive partnership with 7-Eleven is super useful, making these well-known health and beauty products available in selected stores (no need to go to malls to find the essentials)

Great Deals
Once you are in the store, check out the “Great Deals”—there is always something nice to find!

Grab a Seat: In-Store Seating Areas
One standout feature of 7-Eleven Malaysia is the presence of seating areas in most stores

Lively Checkout
The checkout is always lively! Packed with loads of gums and mints, it’s a classic impulse-buy zone. You can also find phone cards there! Behind the cashier, a large cigarette display

Interestingly, in Malaysian grocery stores, halal and non-halal products often have a separate checkout – to respect religious practices and avoid cross-contamination
At 7-Eleven Malaysia, the smaller store size and limited range mean all products, including alcohol, are paid for at the same checkout
Final Thoughts: A True Convenience Destination
We love 7-Eleven Malaysia—it is a total lifesaver in this wonderful country!
First, it has everything a classic convenience store should have, and second, you will find super cool 7-Eleven brand products inside. It is also highly accessible, saving you a trip to the mall.
Even if competition like Japanese FamilyMart and Korean CU – and local operators like KK Super Mart, it remains one of our absolute favorite stores to visit in Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia
